David Jones To Lead High Hampton Inn & Country Club into 2007 as New General Manager


Cashiers, NC (January 24, 2007) -- Hospitality veteran David Jones has been appointed General Manager of the historic High Hampton Inn, a 1,400-acre mountain resort and landmark located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. As General Manager, Mr. Jones will oversee all operations for the Inn, guest cottages, golf course and other sporting facilities, family programs, food and beverage programs, and all guest services as the property enters its 85th season. Named one of the “100 Best Family Resorts in North America ,” the High Hampton Inn has welcomed many families for generations and is known for their extensive family programming.

“It is with great pleasure that I welcome David to the High Hampton family,” said High Hampton President Will McKee, whose family has owned and operated the property for three generations.

Mr. Jones comes to the High Hampton Inn from Augusta , Ga. , where he served as General Manager of The Partridge Inn. Under his leadership, the historic property was consistently ranked “Best in Augusta .” A prominent figure in Augusta , he served on the boards of many community and industry organizations including St. Joseph ’s Hospital Foundation Board and the Greater Augusta Sports Council. He was elected chairman of the Augusta Convention and Visitors Bureau and serves as the Georgia representative for the Southern Innkeepers Association Board of Directors.

Mr. Jones was named General Manager of the Year while at the ITT Sheraton Hotel in Augusta . Prior to settling in Augusta, he worked as Assistant General Manager and Food & Beverage Director for the Myrtle Beach Hilton and spent 14 years with Marriott Hotels & Resorts, serving as Food & Beverage Director, Director of Catering, Dining Room Manager, Catering Sales Manager and Convention Sales Manager at their finer properties throughout the south from Point Clear, Alabama, to Marco Island, Florida. He brings an extensive food and beverage background to the High Hampton Inn, including experience at Georgia ’s only five-star resort, the Cloister Hotel on Sea Island .
