The Grandeur of a Historic Property Revitalized by Northern Lights Restoration
It is with great enthusiasm that Northern Lights Restoration unveils our initial phase of restoration at the historic West Baden Springs Hotel, sister property to the renowned French Lick Springs Hotel.
Built in 1902, West Baden Springs Hotel remains an architectural marvel. Its iconic 200-foot dome, constructed in under a year by 500 men, held the prestigious title of the world's largest freestanding dome for over five decades, even earning recognition as the 8th Wonder of the World. Throughout its remarkable history, the hotel has served as a dedicated health resort, a World War I hospital, a Jesuit Seminary, a private college, and now flourishes once more as a vibrant resort following extensive renovations by the Cook Family in the 1990's.
In this first phase, Northern Lights Restoration restored the historic library, the grand main lobby and mezzanine, and the billiards room. Our meticulous attention to detail brought new life to fireplace mantels, antique desks, ornate dressers, the library conference table, countless chairs, and the iconic "Lion's Tables," the centerpiece of the lobby.
Follow our journey as we unveil the next chapter of West Baden Springs Hotel's revival. A second phase of restoration continues soon, focusing on the atrium pieces and ultimately encompassing the entirety of the guest rooms. We consider it an immense privilege to contribute to the preservation of this architectural treasure and share its captivating history with future generations.
